It is with great joy that we welcome you to our online Introduction to Meditation course, known as The Awareness Program. This comprehensive online training program features Professor Deborah Norris, Ph.D. founder of The Mindfulness Center™, and Director of the American University Psychobiology of Healing program.

The benefits of a personal meditation practice have been experienced by individuals and cultures for thousands of years, but in today's fast paced, high-demand world, we are in great need of these seemingly forgotten skills. The powerful personal and social benefits of meditation expand far beyond the restrictions of time and place, so we see every reason that you too should be able to develop a mindfulness practice and experience for yourself the life changing benefits.

This online program is modeled after the experience of our on-site classes and trainings offered in Bethesda, Maryland. From the comfort of your own home, and on your own schedule, you can now join our online community, and experience the same scientific and psychological depth as our on-site meditation and mindfulness programming.

Contents include:

  • Twelve 60-minute pre-recorded webinars, delivered weekly, including both didactic and experiential content on the concepts and practices of meditation, designed to take participants through the process of building a mindfulness meditation practice.
  • Six-biweekly conference calls to discuss and practice meditation with your instructor, providing the opportunity for live Q&A.
  • Online community page, building community around mindfulness practices and providing a forum for ongoing discussion, feedback and interaction with fellow program participants and program instructors.
  • Access to online resources including recorded meditation audios, archive of recorded webinars and conference calls, scientific research and online access to the course textbook, "In the Flow: Passion, Purpose and the Power of Mindfulness", by program founder Dr. Deborah Norris.
  • Upon completing this program, you will be awarded a Certificate of Completion of The Awareness Program: An Introduction to Mindfulness Meditation from The Mindfulness Center.
